Από αυτές, τα μέλη του σχετικού τμήματος της Ακαδημίας θα πρέπει να καταλήξουν σε μια λίστα 15 φιναλίστ η οποία θα ανακοινωθεί τον Δεκέμβριο.
Οι πλήρεις υποψηφιότητες για την 90ή απονομή των Οσκαρ θα ανακοινωθούν την Τρίτη 23 Ιανουαρίου του 2018, ενώ η τελετή θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Κυριακή 4 Μαρτίου.
Είναι εξαιρετικά δύσκολο να στοιχηματίσει κανείς για το ποια από αυτά τα ντοκιμαντέρ θα βρεθούν ανάμεσα στις τελικές επιλογές, καθώς ελάχιστα από αυτά έχουν προβληθεί (ή θα προβληθούν) στη χώρα μας έξω από το φεστιβαλικό κύκλωμα.
Ωστόσο, με βάση τις κριτικές, την εισπρακτική επιτυχία ή τη συνολική δημοσιότητα που έχουν πάρει, θα ξεχωρίζαμε σίγουρα τα «City of Ghosts», «Jane», «Kedi» και το «Visages, Villages» της αειθαλούς Ανιές Βαρντά.
